Talent We Loved & Lost in 2024 (Teri Garr): Young Frankenstein (1974)
Our celebration of some of the beloved talent we lost in 2024 continues with a tribute to the wonderful Teri Garr. While Garr has said that she originally desired the role of Elizabeth in “Young Frankenstein,” but director Mel Brooks had already set his mind on Madeline Kahn. “If you come back tomorrow with a German accent, would you like to try out for the part of Inga,” Brooks asked. Without missing a beat, Garr put on a comically over-the-top accent and replied ‘Ja yez, I vill come bahck tomorrow.’ And the part became hers. Others in this incredible cast include Gene Wilder, Peter Boyle, Marty Feldman, Cloris Leachman, and Gene Hackman. Rated PG. 106 minutes.
