‘Pretty Much the Best Comedy Show’ Showcases Stars!
Proctors series also features up-and-coming performers each month on its stages
Upstate New York’s premiere stand-up showcase, Pretty Much the Best Comedy Show, has been thriving at Proctors since the summer of 2014, presenting a steady, diverse stream of talent to an ever-growing audience.
Produced by Ethan Ullman and Berkshires funny man Thomas Attila Lewis, in conjunction with Proctors, PMTBCS routinely sells out the Underground at Proctors as well as special editions at Capital Repertory Theatre and the GE Theatre at Proctors.Like Lewis, Ullman is a respected stage comedian, and former host of the Alternative to Sleeping radio show. Together, Ullman and Lewis use contacts from the comedy world to attract artists on the rise—frequently with strong credits at major broadcast outlets like the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, Last Comic Standing, Late Night with David Letterman, Comedy Central, Gotham Comedy Live and Adult Swim; and prestigious billings at Montreal’s Just for Laughs, The New York Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot, SXSW and the Maui Comedy Festival.
PMTBCS has made the Capital Region an important destination for live comedy, and provided a stepping stone for hot performers like Awkwafina, Aparna Nancherla, Brooke Van Poppelen, Myq Kaplan, Ahmed Bharoocha, Beth Stelling, Josh Gondelman, Dave Hill, Shuli Egar, Shane Mauss, Joe List and Nore Davis, among others.
